Alitalia, flag carrier of Italy, was founded in 2008 by combining bankrupt Alitalia-Linee Aeree Italiana with another Italian carrier Air One. Headquartered in Rome Italy, Alitalia has its main base of operations out of Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport.
Today Alitalia has a fleet size of 148 aircraft that takes the airline to 25 destinations throughout Italy and 48 destinations in 37 countries in Europe, North America, South America and Asia. Alitalia today is the worlds 19th largest airline in fleet size.
Alitalia is a member airline of SkyTeam, a global airline alliance between 11 world airlines that serve 905 cities in over 169 countries.
