British Airways is the largest airline in the United Kingdom, with just over 245 airplanes in it’s fleet. Founded in 1974 the airline is headquartered in the city of Waterside just outside of London Heathrow Airport.
The flag carrier of the United Kingdom and a flight schedule taking British Airways to over 150 world wide destinations and 6 domestic destination has made the airline one of only 7 world airlines that fly to all the continents except Antarctica. As of November 2009 British Airways has just signed an agreement to merge with Iberia Airlines. Combined, Iberia and British Airways will become the 3rd largest airline in the world, following Delta and American Airlines.
British Airways was one of the founding airlines of Oneworld, a global airline alliance between 11 world airlines that serve over 720 cities in over 140 countries.
